Little Imps...

Little Imps

I have no sensibility, when it comes to writing I’m a fool...
Words to me are like little imps
They jump about twist and turn
They hop and pop and skip
going bump upon each other
unaware.
They often sit so silently alone and they stare…
and so this poem to you I bring
in the silent dead of night.
Words, to me, they are not friends--
they fill me with fright.

[Just having FUN with words! We have had a lot of fog lately (this is a previously never shared photo) however my camera is 'on the blink' until I get back from my vacation and then some!]

...I am hoping that your summer is going along...swimmingly!

Inventing Soap

I wish I had invented soap
now what a thing to do
each time a person washes clean
those vibes come back to you

I wish I had invented pearls
with luster and with sheen
strung up about the finest of necks
now that would be so keen...

I wish I had invented the car
the plane the fire or the wheel
Each one a miracle (of sort) which 'make' us
all so happy-such a deal

I wish I had invented Tupperware
gravy or some heels
instead of lazing all about or feigning
just spinning my wheels.

[And so I write this poem instead,
my offering to you ( I'll leave it to you to 'invent the wheel' )
...The tread of tires going 'round and 'round
Sweet Jesus--how it feel]

She's Too Much...

It's me...in another life,
just hanging about~
'stylin' (again.)
Always a girl.

[...Really sweltering in the
heavy heat,
here, I'm afraid.
It is fast approaching 90 here
(we have NO A.C.)
...Wish I was right now sitting
at the base of my header shot!
The mist would feel
soooo good.
Hello all. Hope that
your weekend
is running along
smoothly!

Summer FUN

 Yes...a "Stylin" Vintage Beach-going Wardrobe...

I have a proclivity to find vintage postcards at any and
all antique shops. I love the coloration and the old time images!
Here, I pay homage to older day fashions and I wish you all...
"happy summer frolicking(!)"  (to say the least!)

Now, as I have aged (some) I must admit that to cover up
MORE (and more, as it goes...) gives me security and
a certain sense of happiness--I am not so much into this color scheme
The avocado green with the rather large yellowy sash and the
black leggings are, well, yes~~~ just too much. Ladies, do you agree?!
:-)

Although I bet the sands and the sea creatures
back then were worth the high heels!
And dang it if she doesn't look happy, though!

Latest (Sewing) Creations...

"Stylin"
(O.K; line up girls...Now, 'scrunch' in..."There!" "c-l-i-c-k!")

Dear Blogging friends of mine!
As I have shared with some of you, I am taking part of this
summer off, blogging (just) 1-2 times per week. I am in the midst
of finishing up the details of family passing away and I have my
two older children home, right now. Whew! I am still checking
blogs periodically for reading (a must do. :-)) Our wee family is
having a huge estate/rummage sale this very weekend. This kind
of endeavor is so much WORK. Think of me. The flowers
are so wonderfully lovely here in the High Country right now...
The rhododendrons are in bloom--wildly, I might add, everywhere.

I will try and post some lovely pictures of such and I am visiting a
garden park, the The Daniel Boone Native Gardens  today.
As usual lately, though, I am in a crunch for time rather
than having the ability to kick back and to photograph and
to then lolly gag (one of my most favorite things to do--
'not doing,' I mean.:-) )

I have birds out front in my planter, again.
They (she, I should say..) swoop(s) out briskly when we
walk out of our front door. I hope that your summers'
are mighty fine, as well, dear friends. Enjoy the weather.
Savor it when you can!

Bless you one and all.

Louvregirl; still sewing :-
(...when I can, as you can well see!
(and still smilin,'
also.)
:-)

Life is good.

(Re: the photo; these are dolls that I refurbished
and/or they came to me without clothing.
I cleaned them, restyled their hair, and
designed the outfits; necklaces included.
They are very small! )

Hopeful...

Teary drops slide slow down the gentle sloping of each of her silken petals.
She is wet with the night's rain and the now dense morning dew in drops.
She is again slick, sleek and ponderously heavy with the water drop drop weight
as it clings and it slides itself.

Awash in the grayness of the strongly filtered morning light she waits.
Cautious has become her nature,
as the stem on which she is perched bends and sometimes trembles
under the heavy weight of all that she is,
and all that she has become.

Latest Installment

Brunette in Midnight Blue

(Still sewing....)
"Ta da!"

Here we have for you an 1990's (something)
(reproduction) brunette (my favorite, actually...)
Barbie doll in a deep navy evening dress with jet black pumps.
The dress is made by myself of a sturdy knit polyester fabric
with a sheen [...used from an old evening gown of mine...
"Ha!" Well done here....in the refurbishing department-
at least; although, I could have used the curtains in
my bedroom; A.K.A. Scarlett O'Hara. I did get
immense satisfaction, however, from the actual
cutting up of an 'old' (but rarely worn) long gown!)]

I also made a metallic/stretch shawl to match
the gown and constructed a hand-made choker
necklace with a clear quartz pendant. Enjoy!
(This doll is for sale if you might like to know.)
I will be posting her on eBay (soon.)
Perhaps I should post on etsy, though?!
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thank you everyone!

Outfit I'm Proud of...

Way Cool
(Outfit)
...on you remember, come on...Malibu Barbie!
Doesn't she just rock! I think so! :-)

O.K. So I am still doing 'small sewing.' Here is an outfit that dates me
(my latest and my greatest I'm afraid :-) ) But, I 'just can't help myself...'
I love (love) a homemade halter top and a long jean (split) skirt
Wish that they 'fit' me, though. Oh well. Perhaps...well maybe...I will
endeavor to shrink myself (down.) :-)
Yours, as always~
louvregirl
(This tiny little jean skirt was awfully hard
to make, I a wantin' you to know!)
:-)
Hope that your weekend rocks, friends.
See ya back at it on Monday, though.

Dedication Today

Yesterday, Doc Watson passed away at 7:21 P.M.
at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina.
Doc was 89 years old...This photo of ours was taken two
years ago in the heat of summer near a raging stream
swollen with chocolate rain water of Doc
singing and playing at a small function in Todd, N.C.
Oddly, I can hear his notes echoing this day down the halls of heaven.
Thank you Doc, for all that you said and you did to
enliven the lives of others. You were 'about' other people and
although I did not know you well, your devotion to music
and to serving others conveys to me that you were a truly great man.

'How Green is my Valley?'

This is a luscious shot of the Appalachian mountains in
Blowing Rock, North Carolina (this weekend, past.)
What a lush, green-velvety view!
It was a slightly misty day and the colors were
muted as they faded on off into the distance.
However, there is (sadly) no way to convey the vast size
of the mountains here on a mere 8X10 canvas...

Stylin'

 Paisley Maxi Dress
(for Barbie)

O.K. (just in case you have been wondering where I have been :-)
So here is my latest project...I (guess) have become a sew-a-holic of sorts;
always wondering what design is next and what fabric to choose and so on...
Oh no...
I need thread (you get the idea!) I don't know exactly what happened
to me-except that I was apparently bit by a sewing bug
And how has everyone been lately?
I love the colors in these dresses. Don't you?
So retro :-)

Two Offerings

Once

Once a flower in her hair, oh so fair, oh so fair.
Once a flame-fire burning bright, in the night, yes, in the night.
Once a sultry, summer song, now-a dream, all but gone.
Once a singer, once a song-singing praises all day long.
Once a story, once a look, now a few lines in a book.

Now a Poem

Once a flower blooming fair, over there, over there
Once a smile upon her face, lips of red-just a trace
Once a breeze across the way-not today, no-not today
Once a tree grew in the hollow, now it’s gone, fallen, fallen…
Once a dream in my heart, now it’s grown, it’s on its own
Once praise, to my God-now a poem, now-a poem.
Once a sleep at midday, come what may, yes come what may.
Once a tentative, diminutive manner-now a roar, a roar and holler.

On getting off the ground...

Remedy the Tarnation
(on getting off the ground or on 'getting going.')

I am part of my own solution
(although this may cause a revolution, of sorts.)
I know I have warts and some convolution
(but let’s not make this an institution,
O.K.?)
So here it is,
part of my Constitution:
I have (thus far) found there is no other
substitution for motion
to rectify constipation (and any stagnation.)
Forward motion will
remedy the tarnation
out of my plight—
rather than staying stuck down in the muck
here
I will arise and take flight—
take my leave...
with this and
some other
tricks
up my sleeve.
