Elk River Amazing
This is
truly a beautiful
waterfall.
Top:
Head on.
Next:
Of course,
our visit was
very much
'upstaged' by
a group of older
teenage boys
jumping the
almost 65
foot drop. I could
hardly watch.
Out of a rather
large group,
two young men
'successfully'
jumped from
the radically sloped
and very slippery
large rounded
bolder top. This is definitely
NOT recommended.
The (wiser) others,
would not
even venture it
(thank God here.)
My husband happened
to snap these
while photographing
the falls.
Next:
One of the young
men caught 'Looking up.'

Elk Falls
We took a journey
to see a waterfall
this weekend.
This is Elk Falls
of Elk Park, N.C.
It is a 65 foot
drop to the
bottom
(Larger than it
looks here!)
Top:
A rocky outcropping
overhead along
the way. The path
to reach this was
less than 1/4 mile!
Next Several:
Close-ups of the
water and humongous
boulders surrounding
the fall, including
my favorite; 'Water
through Red-leafed
Trees.'
Next Two:
The falls itself
with the water
basin below. This
falls basin is swimable.
Bottom:
The mountainous
view along the
way (down.)
Come on along!

Saturday Frolics...
3 Good Things:
Recent rains
have caused
little tributaries to
run strong.
Top:
A stream
flowing into
the New River
runs strong
and looks much
like flowing
chocolate!
This rushing
noise was
the backdrop
for a concert
in Todd, N.C.
where the
87 year old
(blind) singer
/songwriter
/guitarist
Doc Watson performed
live for a group of about
100 near Todd General
Store (Middle Shot.)
Bottom:
On the way
out of the valley,
geese frolic
in the cool
running water.
And a
good time
was had...by all.

Morning Skywatch...
Bringing it for you-
Friday the 20th!
Top:
Wispy morning
clouds driven
by the high
winds; painting
the morning
sky-perfect.
:)
Next:
Wormy sacks
getting ready
for Halloween...
on the trees
in N.C.; N.C.
is the most
'Halloweeny' place
that I have
ever lived in!
Especially the
worm sacks,
the giant
spiders
and the
moon
at night in
October.
They
invented
'spooky,'
haunting
skies here!
Bottom 3:
Behold...
Sunrise.

Summer Views
Top:
Lovely range
near Mount Mitchell
in the summer
Middle:
Potatoes we dug
up yesterday!
We have many
more to come folks!
(Although they
are speckled and do
come in all shapes
and strange sizes,
they are super
smooth and creamy;
they fry UP well to a
crisp which is
potato perfection :) )
Bottom:
Our little eggplant
and I'm not to
sure what all else!
How are your
gardens
-right now-
(if you are
fortunate
to have one
I wonder...?)
:)
Do have a great
and a truly
wonderful
day(!!!)
and weekend
'ya all!
