Misty Apparition

Enshrouded,
we find ourselves
back up and in the clouds.
Here--
thoughts can drift

to days past
to dreams ahead...
suspending time;
encapsulated
elongated
and syncopated,
punctuating each minute
with the mist.

Apparition hangs
over the shoulder like an
icy vaporous shawl

and waits like a prayer
around every corner
.

Unusual Beauty

Look Closely: A Tree Collecting Stones

Lovely Fog

Tangled Vine

These are some of our more unusual
photos of trees and such from the High Country.
Can
you see the heart shapes hidden in the big vine?
Also, I never thought that I would see a tree
that is a rock collector (like I am...!)

Turkey on Parade and Fabulous Forest Views

This amazing gully or hollow was filled to the brim with
absolutely straight trees...hundreds and hundreds of them.

The High Country has the best big, strong trees!
They truly are ...lovely. :)
Tom Turkey: We 'spied' a flock of about 15 or so big
turkeys in a nearby field. This proud male
(the only male) obliged us with a full showing
of his marvelous colors! I had no idea
that turkeys were so extremely
colorful and varied.
On our frequent road trips
we always find such surprises!

There is a place to be found,
find it and you'll know...
There is a place, En-gedi,
where healing waters flow.

Fascination

Tender Blue Beauty
{This one is in memory of Elizabeth Taylor (today)...}

Cloud On Mountain Ridge Descending

Heavens Meet Mountain

The Big Roll Over

Today's View

These shots were taken
this morning on a very blustery day.
I was literally tossed around outside the car while
I procured these photos...With winds gusting up to 65 MPH
atop the Blue Ridge Parkway I thought
that I might fly away!
But oh...how glorious
it was up there today!
Taken just in time with partial sun
as it is now clouding up!

Fabulous Forsythia, Barn With a Quilt and a Surprise...

On a brief photo journey today, I 'spied'
a cute barn with a quilt and
as I drove
up the horse in the pic

(second from the bottom)

snuck his head out and whinnied
as if to say
"Are you the one
with my food?"
Top Several
:

The forsythia are in full bloom
right now and fabulous to behold!

Spring in the Brambles

Blowing Rock

Proud

Hidden

Brambles

A Spring Morning Mountain View

This morning, I ventured to the same
location where I photographed wild daffodils
on a mountainside (Blowing Rock.) Last year,
I told a story of how I stumbled down the slope
-here- to procure the photo and then scared
a very large rabbit out of a bramble patch hole.
Ha! I (just) love things like that!
:)
My footing was sure this time.
However, as I carefully took each step down the slope,
I did (again) manage to scare away some wild creature
(probably a deer) who was snorting a wee bit down
the slope in protest to my appearance!
The area was once again, lovely, and this time
I was happy to 'spy' an entire grotto of wild daffodils
in the thicket and down the mountainside!
I thought, what a view God must have of all the
wonderful things...
the 'hidden from (our) sight most luscious and
beautiful things' from His all-seeing aerial view!!
I needed a small plane today to see all the wild
(mountain) daffodils hidden away!
But~~I did manage to photograph some...
and here they are. And If you look very carefully,
you can see that the daffodils are hidden away
in the thicket and down the entire mountainside!
A most wonderful and a lovely thing :)
Yours,
lg

la lune magnifique

A spring moon
does more than light
the blackness of the sky.
It speaks to the heart
of the watchful One
overseeing both you and I.

A spring moon
lights the room,
white light
extraordinaire.
A spring moon
lifted high, brings with it
soft light to make things clear.

It rests gently on the pillow.
It develops puppets to play on the wall.
It is not overcome by the shadow of night,
a comfort to one and to all.

So if you happen to find it,
a pasted orb up in the sky...
take care to study and to wonder upon
the majestic moon
on its course passing by.

March Mild Morning and Spring Blooms

A break in the weather today...
The sly was clear and blue and white
striped. It was almost 68 degrees late
yesterday afternoon!! I was able to find
the beginning of a
blooming yellow bush
on my walk this Saturday morning!

Spring is well on its way here.

Ode to a Tinkling Valley Stream

There is a place down in there
Where river waters run
And peace, like a companion sits
Alone waiting in the sun.

There is a place down in there
Where river waters rush
There is a place down in there
Where one can hear a hush

There is a place down in there
Where gentle glories lie
Where troubles drift and sorrows lift
With each cloud that passes by--

There is a place down in there
Where you can go to hear
Your thoughts that ripple one by one
And you can shed a tear

There is a place down in there
(Fond memory of the heart)
Of love found at the water's edge
From this (dear one) do not depart--

There is a place down in there
Where the river waters flow
Next to the giant oak tree
A thing that you should know

And if by chance, you set there
Stretched long, quiet, and still
You'll find yourself a resting place
That is, if you will.

Golden

Golden sun rising
Over land and stream
Golden sun rising
Gentle glories beam
Golden sun rising
Over hill and dale
Golden sun rising
Shadows of night pale.

Golden sun rising
Gilded painting in the sky
Golden sun rising
Giving pleasure to the eye

Golden sun rising
Take care to take it in
Golden sun rising
Gift as daybreak does begin.

Gray

Gray rain sky
pressing in
Gray all around
just where does it end
and begin?
Gray mud
gray moss
gray puddle
thoughts as well,
just a tad
befuddled...

Who put the gray
all up in the sky?
just a peek of light
would belie
the permanency
of the gray
that pervades us today...

Perhaps a flashlight
'neath
the covers
would suffice
this inkling
notion craving
for
the light.
If
one can tell me
where to find it
I will seek it out.

What say ye
fellow travelers
wrapped up in gray?
Let us away
without a trace
to a luminescent
place
where rays of sunlight
touch the face
and impart to us the grace
sufficient.

And may we fly.

(Some) 40 Years Later

Body racked with pain...she would rise from her bed upon hearing the car.
Tiny frame of a women, yet a soul--so large.
Gliding from counter to counter
Counter to table
Clearing light saucers
"Would you like some pickles?"
And her smile-
Spread wide across old teeth.
Thick glasses.
A tender tear.
And so full of love.

We were 'city slickers;'
Company...'come' to visit the farm...
What compelled their overt kindness
To the likes of me?
Seldom visiting
Spoiled
City dweller
Interestingly enough though--
Some forty years later

Her genuine hospitality
Her quiet ways
Her sweet concerned disposition
And her patient hovering
The halting
Delivery of the dainties
and the delicacies
that composed the
edibles
of farm life

Some forty years later-
Her delicate nature
The rhythmic richness of her voice
Telling small stories
And the gentleness of her hands
Impress me the most.
Old fashioned name
But with a way
In my book
Never out of fashion
Alma.

Appalachia

Appalachia

Crack me open

Mine me

Refine me

And distill me on down

I am

The big forest

Across the humpback path

Aching in the wind

Full of creaks

Loosely organized

Stand of giant trees

I am

The frog swelling up

Splatting through the water

Tongue hidden

Lumpy clumsy

Roly poly

Fatso

I am the heron

Neck wrenching

Funny legged

Weak gray

Winged birdie

Fly away

Home

I am the ginormous rock formations

Hanging high

Held by tree root

Perching precariously

Crashing rolling

Bolder(s)

Stone mountain

I am the rushing water

Filling the gorge

Appalachian mist

Rising

Tinkling rain

I am song

I am light

I am a moonlit night

Nature’s tresses

Wooded bosom

All creatures’ womb

Appalachia I am.
