Late Blooms

Today is a beautiful day in the mountains. 'They say' it is going to be 90 down below; which does mean that it will be 80 here. These are gorgeous late summer days. Today's pics: Late blooming flowers. Top: CUTE yellow daisies are still hanging about, their long stems causing them to droop
down and look lazy and unkempt. Middle: pretty pink flowers hanging on all over the front planting area. I'm not sure just what they are- I planted them from seeds. They are hearty and require little to no care! They are beautiful when opening, much like a delicate rose only longer. Bottom: These beauties have taken over a plot by the front door. The intensity of autumn colors, well~ just 'Yum.' :)

Foggy Nights

Foggy nights on the mountain
are filled with mist. It creeps in
and settles...as if to say
"Look at me, holding the light.
Have I surprised you?"

A Cabin and Some Views

Come on along! Here are some views
for you along the Blue Ridge
(riding toward Asheville)
and a cute wee log cabin
in the country! Bottom:
A rather large river in the mountains
was an exciting view -to find-
from up above!
What beautiful blues....

Sunrise (Series) in the Fall

Sunrise on the
mountain; at
about 3800
feet or so, give
or take a
few feet here
and there...
We had to

get up and
to photograph
this sky.
For some reason,
the sky and
all of its intricacies
seem clearer
and it has greater
color variation
in the fall here!
The colors are
rich, saturated
and very deep.
Ahhhh. Behold.
Welcoming...
isn't it?
:)

Captured...

by the U.S. Open :)
Hats off to young
18 year old Ryan Harrison
for a FUN and breathtaking
game against
Stakhovsky this afternoon.
Sorry for my non-posting
(behavior) the last two days...
as I am 'spirited away'
by the game.

Viva the U.S. Open!!!!

(...Forgive me~~I digress.)
I will so miss tennis this year!

Elk River Amazing

This is
truly a beautiful
waterfall.
Top:
Head on.
Next:
Of course,
our visit was
very much
'upstaged' by
a group of older
teenage boys
jumping the
almost 65
foot drop. I could
hardly watch.
Out of a rather
large group,
two young men
'successfully'
jumped from
the radically sloped
and very slippery
large rounded
bolder top. This is definitely
NOT recommended.
The (wiser) others,
would not
even venture it
(thank God here.)
My husband happened
to snap these
while photographing
the falls.
Next:
One of the young
men caught 'Looking up.'

Elk Falls

We took a journey
to see a waterfall
this weekend.
This is Elk Falls
of Elk Park, N.C.
It is a 65 foot
drop to the
bottom
(Larger than it
looks here!)
Top:
A rocky outcropping
overhead along
the way. The path
to reach this was
less than 1/4 mile!
Next Several:
Close-ups of the
water and humongous
boulders surrounding
the fall, including
my favorite; 'Water
through Red-leafed
Trees.'
Next Two:
The falls itself
with the water
basin below. This
falls basin is swimable.
Bottom:
The mountainous
view along the
way (down.)

Come on along!
:) :)

What mountain?

We snapped this shot last night.
The photo quality isn't great
(it's grainy) but the profile of
the mountain top is
pretty good!
Is it...
1. Grandfather Mountain...
2. Baldface Mountain
or
3. Grandmother Mountain?

Architectural Beauty!

These gorgeous photos
were taken recently of a
building in Asheville, N.C.
I think the colors and geometric
pattern are fabulous! My husband
is responsible for removing all the tile
and refurbishing it!

Saturday Frolics...

3 Good Things:
Recent rains
have caused
little tributaries to
run strong.

Top:
A stream
flowing into
the New River
runs strong
and looks much
like flowing
chocolate!
This rushing
noise was
the backdrop
for a concert
in Todd, N.C.
where the
87 year old
(blind) singer
/songwriter
/guitarist

Doc Watson performed
live for a group of about
100 near Todd General
Store (Middle Shot.)
Bottom
:
On the way
out of the valley,
geese frolic
in the cool
running water.

And a
good time

was had...by all.

Morning Skywatch...

Bringing it for you-
Friday the 20th!
Top:
Wispy morning
clouds driven
by the high
winds; painting
the morning
sky-perfect.
:)
Next:
Wormy sacks
getting ready
for Halloween...
on the trees
in N.C.; N.C.
is the most
'Halloweeny' place
that I have
ever lived in!
Especially the
worm sacks,
the giant
spiders
and the
moon
at night in
October.
They
invented
'spooky,'
haunting
skies here!
Bottom 3:
Behold...
Sunrise
.
