Spring Green

Lovely Profile...

Just Plain Strange

The Forest Awash in Lime

Bottom: Last night we had a thunder and
a lightening storm that was magnificent.
The thunder echoed throughout the mountains
back and forth. As a result, this morning the mountain
theme was...a deep lime green, well- all over;...leaves,
ground cover, plants all sporting their limiest-lime of limes.
And a lime sublime :-) I would say all was awash in lime
this time. Middle: A strange flower from another world...
Top: A lovely goose close-up; so serene.

Galax, Secret Place and O.K., Tilt Your Head...

We took a nice Saturday drive to
Galax, Virginia (from North Carolina.)

Of course, my husband managed to find...
a gravel road.... (Just how does he do that??)

Along it we saw trout fisherman after trout
fisherman...(the serious kind dressed in all tan
with waders and the wicker basket types...)
The stream we followed had some awesome
rocky outcroppings (Bottom photo) and
peaceful turns. We learned that the geese
here are sitting on their nests (on the banks)
and hatching their babies now. Things to avoid:
deadly large black water moccasins with
big flat puffed out black heads...We saw two
(our footsteps scared them from the grassy
banks and into the water, thankfully.)
Not nice (creatures...)
Middle photo
: A lone goose and his (or her)
wonderful shallow wading spot.
My favorite: Top pic;
I aptly named this one
"O.K, Now Tilt Your Head to the Side a Bit and...Smile!"

Have a truly great day, friends...
And make sure and take some time to
smell the roses-or the peonies!

A Big Gal

O.K. This big gal showed up at
our bird feeder...a female turkey!
That's the thing about the mountains...
they can keep you guessing. So, I said to hubby...
well, what's next... a bear?

How Does My Garden Bloom and Grow?

How does my garden bloom and grow?

Full of flower and fruit, friend-

you should know.

My Beloved does tenderly

bend and till…

He plucks and weeds

the soil until

a lush green forest

of plant and fruit

issues forth

with joy of youth--

acacia, almond, buttercup

basil, bluebell,

chrysanthemum;

crocus, cactus, cypress tree-

all these offerings

to taste and see.

Across the seasons

and through time,

my garden grows

both well and fine…

In winter-pine and evergreen,

in spring- the orchid…peony,

then the summer rose takes hold

full of color, blooming bold…

also the wee black-eyed Susie

the larkspur, impatiens

rise up to be.

In fall

the proud and tall

sunflower

lifts its face to

stand and tower.

All these beauties

are to be found

as the Master Gardener

works the ground…

How does my garden bloom and grow?

With flower, fair, friend-

you should know.

The Garden of my Dreams

The Garden of My Dreams

The garden of my dreams
is tilled and fertile
full of jasmine and crepe myrtle.
The plants are pushing
down their roots
through rocky soil...
straight to the mineral.

Sun will come and sun will go
as the garden of my dreams
does ebb and flow.

Thoughts, they grow and they take root
until they become deliberate.
In the garden of dreams...
I form and I play
with poems and stories
come what may
until a tree stands strong and tall
bearing fruit for one and all.

The garden of my dreams
is verdant, green-
sweet like honey,
and pure like cream.

So come and sit a spell
down here
where our minds can meet
and shed a tear
or fabricate
a lofty plan
the highest form
of being human.

My garden grows, as your does too--
to sustain and nourish
both me and you.

So sit a spell
plunk your feet down
in the lush green growth
of garden ground,
where the grapes of promise
draw from soil of thought
and wondrous things
are formed and wrought.
